Innovative Teachers of Texas (ITTexas) began with a simple but powerful idea: what if educators built an organization that truly served educators?

Founded by three classroom teachers who felt overlooked and underrepresented by traditional unions and professional organizations, ITTexas was created to provide something different—something without the noise of large, top-down education organizations. They envisioned something different: an educator-centered nonprofit focused on protecting and empowering teachers as individuals and as professionals.

Their vision was clear:

Support the teacher. Encourage innovation. Protect professionalism.

With that mission at heart, Innovative Teachers of Texas was born—an organization offering top-tier professional liability insurance and legal protections, all without funding a political agenda. From the beginning, ITTexas has served as a model for other states seeking to build similar alternatives, offering guidance and best practices for those looking to replicate our success.

Growth & Momentum

Innovative Teachers of Texas, lovingly referred to as ITTexas, was created to provide a modern alternative in professional liability insurance for teachers without funding a liberal political agenda. The organization will remain a incubator for establishing similar organizations in other states, as well, by providing guidance, information, and best practices for future state chapters. ITTexas consists of forward-thinking professionals who espouse policies that not only allow, but actively encourage, excellence in education and professionalism in the classroom.

Growth & Development

In early 2022, ITTexas took a major step forward by securing dedicated office space to serve as state headquarters. The space quickly became a hub for operations, outreach, and member support.

The start of the 2022–2023 school year marked a turning point. ITTexas representatives connected with educators at New Teacher Orientations and Convocations across the state, introducing our mission to thousands of new teachers—and witnessing rapid membership growth.

At the same time, ITTexas forged strong relationships with:

• Parent and community groups that shared our values

• Local businesses and professional allies

• Elected officials who support teacher empowerment—without political entanglement

We also created donor pathways for non-educators who believe in our mission and want to support the work we do.

To help spread the word, ITTexas board members and area coordinators appeared on local radio programs and podcasts, sharing insights on education and advocating for teacher-driven solutions. Our work even garnered national attention when a board member was quoted in The Epoch Times during a discussion on the future of education.

Today, we remain a growing force in education—teacher-led, student-focused, and guided by principle—not politics.
